Octogenarian Dies In Jamaica Fire

An 84-year-old Jamaica woman died on Wednesday after her home went up in flames, police said.

Ruth Andrade was found unconscious and unresponsive by firefighters on the first floor of her home on 91st Avenue in Jamaica. An 85-year-old man was also found inside the residence, police said.

Andrade, 84 and the elderly man, were taken to Queens General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The man remained in stable condition, police said.

The cause of the fire is to be determined by city’s Fire Marshall and the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
