A Queens judge sent a Fresh Meadows father to Rikers Island Wednesday night for killing his wife and seriously injuring his daughter inside their home, prosecutors said.

Jawad Hussain faces up to 25 years to life in prison for repeatedly stabbing his wife Fatima Jawad in the chest and cutting his 18-year-old daughter as she desperately tried to stop him.

“This is the worst outcome to domestic violence. The wife died as a result of her injuries and her daughter is lucky to be alive,” said Queens County District Attorney Richard A. Brown. “The defendant is in custody and now faces the possibility of spending the rest of his life behind bars.”

Hussain, 57, allegedly admitted to detectives that he used two knives to slash his wife, 44, during a dispute, according to the criminal complaint. He is represented by attorneys from Legal Aid.

Hussain also slashed his daughter on her hands and wrists during the attack, prosecutors said.

Both women were taken to a nearby hospital where Fatima Jawad was pronounced dead. The daughter was treated for her injuries, but remains hospitalized.

Hussain was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court with second-degree murder, felony assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
