New York Mets captain David Wright officially commenced the final stage of his farewell tour when the Mets added him to the active roster Tuesday.

Wright, a perennial All-Star at third base and a club legend, has not played a major league game since May 2016 due to chronic back problems, including spinal stenosis.

Manager Mickey Callaway said he may use Wright as a pinch hitter ahead of his scheduled start at third base on Saturday when the Mets play the Miami Marlins in the season’s penultimate contest.

Citi Field is sold out for the Saturday game and standing room only tickets start at $75 on StubHub.
