Burglar Killed During St. Albans Home Invasion

A suspected burglar who was trying to break into a St. Albans home early Monday was killed by one of the homeowners, police said. The story was first reported by NBC4.

The NYPD said two brothers who live in a home on Williamson Avenue near 197th Street in St. Albans confronted the 26-year-old suspect around 2:45 a.m. Monday.

According to PIX11, the suspected thief rang the doorbell of the home then attempted to force his way inside. The brothers confronted him and pushed him into the street. One of the brothers smashed the suspect with a baseball bat and stabbed him in the torso, police said.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, police said. His name was not released. Police officers took the brothers, ages 16 and 27, to the precinct for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
