A Jamaica man who allegedly pimped out and beat a 25-year-old woman is facing 25 years in prison on charges of rape, sex trafficking and robbery, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced on Monday.

Dennis Hodges, 40, reportedly encountered the unidentified victim after she left her mother’s home. Hodges offered her a place to stay and forced her to perform sex work. He also forced the victim to give him all of the money she made.

On Dec. 1, Hodges allegedly struck the victim several times, searched her and took $40 from her.

“The defendant in this case is accused of profiting from prostitution by pimping out a young woman. I want to emphasize that prostitution is not a victimless crime and that sex trafficking is an incessant act of brutality,” Brown said. “This young woman was allegedly raped, abused and had money stolen from her. The defendant is now facing a lengthy term of incarceration.”

Hodges was arraigned on Monday before Acting Queens Supreme Court Justice Gia Morris on a nine-count indictment that charges him with first-degree rape, sex trafficking, first- and second-degree robbery and second-degree assault.

Bail was set at $500,000 bond or $300,000 cash and Hodges must return to court on Jan. 15, 2019.
