A 19-year-old motorist was killed on Thursday night after a reckless driver careened into his vehicle and fled the scene to crash into another car, police said.
At the intersection of 264th Street and 79th Avenue in Glen Oaks a teenager was driving a 2017 Honda Civic through a stop sign when the driver of a 2008 Honda Accord hit the rear passenger side, police said.
The young driver — whose identification was not released because his family was not notified — then hit a parked an unoccupied 2015 Chevrolet Suburban.
When police arrived on the scene, the driver and his 21-year-old male front seat passenger were taken to North Shore Manhasset Hospital for trauma to their bodies.
The driver died from his injuries and the passenger remains in stable condition, police said.
Meanwhile, the 44-year-old driver of the Honda Accord fled the scene and collided into another car near Union Turnpike and 264th Street, police said.
Police have not identified the alleged hit-and-run suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
