We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following role:
Reporter
The Queens Daily Eagle is seeking an ambitious and hardworking reporter to cover Queens’ legal and criminal justice community, as well as local goings-on in the World’s Borough.
The reporter will be responsible for writing and reporting between 2-4 stories per day, working primarily from the field and generating original stories from around Queens’ courts and legal community. The reporter will also be responsible for finding original local stories about other aspects of Queens life.
The reporter will be required to build sources within the borough’s courts and legal community, which the Eagle prides itself on covering. They will also be expected to build sources from the highest levels of the city’s government down to the community level.
The reporter will be expected to work outside of the bounds of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., covering events that take place in the evenings or on weekends.
Responsibilities include:
Interviewing Judges and other court employees for an ongoing series
Reporting on cases, the jails and criminal justice data
Covering City Council hearings and events both virtual and in person
Formatting content for republication
Salary range: $30,000-$40,000

The Queens Daily Eagle was founded in 2018 with a focus on covering Queens’ courts and legal news, as well as interesting local, community-driven stories that are under-reported or unreported. The Eagle is the only daily print paper focused on local news in Queens.
