A pregnant woman was fatally stabbed inside of a Ridgewood apartment building early morning Sunday, according to police from the 104th Precinct.

Officers found Jennifer Irigoyen, 35, with stab wounds to her neck and torso inside the hall of 60-80 Myrtle Ave. just after 1 a.m. She was rushed to Wyckoff Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A police source told the Eagle that Irigoyen, of Rego Park, was “visibly pregnant” when police got to the scene, but could not confirm it pending a medical examiner investigation. The Associated Press reported that the woman was five months pregnant, and that her unborn child did not survive.

No suspect has been arrested as of press time and police do not yet have a motive, but the incident is being treated as a homicide. An investigation is currently ongoing.
